I sure hope it's not dated to the 80s! I like it as a NN for Natalia (not by itself). I don't think NN's are inevitable - I know two Natashas - one doesn't get called by a NN, and for the other one, it is her NN (she's from Ukraine). I never thought of it in a stripper context - I don't think you have to worry about that.

I find Natalie trite and Natasha fluffy. Natalia just doesn't work for me at all - too long and goes nowhere.

If you love Natasha enough to use it, I think the mn position would be safer. It will be shortened, and the short forms are dire.

I don't think very many people will shorten it to Tasha. My dog's name is Tasha, and I haven't seen anyone really make the connection between that and Natasha/Natalia. Even if you're still worried about it, I think there's enough possible nicknames between Natalia & Natasha that you might be able to find one you like and stick to that.

My only issue is pronunciation. Where I'm from its sad Nuh-TASH-uh whereas I think the American pronunciation is Nuh-TAHSH-uh. I prefer the first one, but I also like a combination between the two. I really dislike the way it sounds when said in an American accent though lol that sounds so weird

I know a girl named Natasha, she's often called Tash, never Nat or Tasha though. I do think it is inevitable that she is going to get at least one of those names - I'd probably prefer Tash.

I like Natasha. I don't think it is too dated. I prefer it as a nickname for Natalia. I don't think it sounds like a stripper name at all. Tasha can be avoided. I know quite a few people who use their full names even though the names have common nicknames. The only Natasha I remember meeting was my wicked Russian step-grandmother's sister who is in her 60s I think. I like Natalia the best, Natalie second, and Natasha last (only because it's a diminutive form).

i'm eastern european, and a common nn for Natasha is Nate (pronounced NAH teh). I don't like Tasha, Tash, Nat etc either.

I know Nate is a boy's name, but that's obviously pronounced differently, and we don't use it as a boys name anyway.

I love the name Natasha, don't find it dated or too 80's sounding and certainly don't see it as a stripper/adult star type of name. I like it as a full name, not a nn for Natalia or Natalie. I see all three names as separate names in their own right. If you let people know that she's to be called Natasha all the time, then people will get used to it. Don't know any Natasha's, no. Natasha is my favourite, then Natalie, then Natalia.

I like the name Natasha and it doesn't feel dated to me, probably because i know a few little girls with the name. It has a more, eastern european / exotic feel to me, not stripper-esque in the slightest.
Some people would probably shorten it to Tasha, but i think its a name where you could get away with insisting on Natasha

I fell in love with the nn Natasha reading "War and Peace." Natasha Rostova is one of literature's sweetest heroines (to me). So the stripperish angle is lost on me. And I didn't know it is tied to the 1980's. Did it's popularity take off then?

Natasha is elegant, mysterious, and unapologetically Russian to me. Love it. I prefer it as a nn for Natalia. But Natasha on it's own works also. I'm not big on the nn tasha either.
