Carolina is a lovely name. I used to go to school with a Carolina (Caro-lee-nah), and I don't think she had very many problems with it. I also encountered another Carolina who pronounced her name the same way. Both lived in the U.S. Caro-lee-nah isn't that complicated, so I think that a lot of people catch on pretty quickly in the U.S, although I'm sure a lot of people assume the "line" pronunciation at first. Marisol is a pretty name, and in theory, I like Valentina, but it's a bit too frilly for me.
