Well I know a Jay for James. And I have a friend Z who's name is Ziqang and just doesn't want people to bother pronouncing his name badly (which they all do). Just depends on the name. I have an Aunt Kay so someone being called K would probably make me think that was her name or her name was Kayla or along those lines. Not that big of a deal.
