I just fell in love with the name Adrasteia. What do you think? Would it work on a real person? Be honest. Could you see it on a little girl and on an adult? Have you ever met one? (well it could be) :P

I love Adrasteia, but I think it would be a little over the top. It doesn't seem to be used much by Greeks now. I would say it with the Modern Greek pronunciation of ah-DRAHS-tee-ah (see my post and links below).

I like it, but I prefer the masculine version - Adrastos. Which I have used, but only on a character, mind. I think it would turn a few heads if it were to be on a real person, but since girls have so many strange and unheard of names these days, I think you could get away with it. I think it would probably be a bit harder to get away with Adrastos.

Very pretty! I'm not one for the quirky names, but I can easily see this on the daughter of an unconventional couple. And, I just like the way it sounds.

The Modern Greek pronunciation would be ah-DRAHS-tee-ah and the Classic Greek pronunciation would be ah-DRAS-tay-ah. The accent mark is on the second syllable as seen here: http://www.ancientlibrary.com/smith-bio/0029.html

I'd say it like you, ah-drahs-TAY-ah. Based on how I've heard Cassiopeia pronounced by people I thought should know how to pronounce it. You can try the Facts board to be sure, if you don't get an authoritative answer here.

I would prn it ah-DRAHS-tee-ah just because it flows easier for me, though I doubt it would be correct. It is a pretty enough sound, but it is getting bear "over the top" territory.

Yes, I do, but I forgot the password :( It was saved on my old laptop and now that I have a new one it's gone. The thing is that I registered a long long time ago and can't remember the email address I registered with because I don't use it anymore. I sometimes log in with my sister's account (who doesn't use it anymore), though.

Oh great, I will write to him tomorrow. The thing is, I was registered as Lily8 but changed my user name to Lily. When I tried to register as Lily years ago the user name was taken but I never encountered another user named Lily here so is it possible that I can use it for my new account? Just wondering.

Your username and posting name do not have to be the same thing. You are the only person who posts on this board as Lily, so that is your posting name, and you can keep it regardless of your username that you use to log in. There can be a gazillion variations of Lily as a username, though, so that doesn't matter. However, if just Lily is taken as a username, you'll still have to modify it to be Lily8 or something else.
