Maya and Jyoti are my Chinese girl friend's two daughters, and her husband is a Jewish American.
I wonder if there's a link/relation between Maya and Jyoti? Or maybe the parents just want to use unusual names... Because when they chose Maya for the first born, I thought it's ok, but Jyoti sounds a little bit "too much"... What's your opinion?

I like Maya but Jyoti is a bit too much. I don't even know how you'd pronounce it. How do they pronounce it?
In Sanskrit Jyoti means "light" and Maya means "illusion". Maya can also be a Jewish name that means "water".
