Hmm, it seems like it should be attractive in theory, but something about it rubs me the wrong way. First, I can see it being butchered in pronunciation. I myself first thought it was something like "ill-eye".

I like Eli better. More straightforward, and similar meaning. And if you say "ee-lah-ee" really fast, it sort of becomes Eli anyways....
