No, absolutely not. It's a classic and the name of a US state, for heaven's sake. Is the Virgin Mary "left-of-centre"? I see your point about possible teasing, but .. well, I'm one of those people who believes a name will be teased only if the kid is teasable, and if the kid is teasable, his/her name will be teased even if it's John or Cathy. There are worse things to be named for.I can imagine using it, because it's my DH's grandmother's name (she's still alive, barely). And I love the nn Virgie. I can totally picture it on a little girl.Then again, maybe I just am not sensitive about the idea of virginity. I'm also a fan of the name Virgil for a boy. I get enough flak, though, when I bring it up, I probably would not use it. Just the partial soundalike seems to be too much for people if it is a boy name.- chazda
