Of course Katherine could go withought a nn! It's such a beautiful name that I think it should be used in full, perhaps with a nn heard among her family members.
I think Kate & Katie are really overused! I'm begining to not like them any more!
I'm not a fan of Kathy or Kat, I've known several ladies who've gone by that and I just can't help hating them (the nns I mean).
I love Kit as a nn! It's so cute! I think a little girl named Katherine should mostly use her full name and in the loving privacy of her home sometimes be called Kitty or Kit. Kitty more when she's younger and Kit more when she grows up. I love using full names! :)
