Oedipa
First of all, don't worry, I'd never dream of using it!
But I've been reading "The Crying of Lot 49" by Thomas Pynchon, where it's the protagonist's name, and, as a name nerd, I can't help but savouring it. It's ridiculous and cool all at once. Any thoughts? Does anyone like it?

All I can think of is some guy marrying his mother. Yuck.
I think you hit the nail on the head saying it is ridiculous and cool. I could not have said it better. :-D
I'd be really excited to see it, too, but I think the sound is really dull. It looks really neat and pretty, but with the silent O, it just falls flat for me.
Of course it reminds me of the Oedipus Complex but I'm not too concerned since you'd never use it :)

Is it pronounced like Oedipus without the S? I've never read that book but it reminds me of the Oedipus Complex and I could never get passed the sexual meaning in it to actually like Oedipa, even as a GP.
