Valkyrie and Valentine
I just found out I'm pregnant :) I've been discussing names with DH and Valkyrie and Valentine are among his favorites. I like them as GPs but could see them used in real life. WDYT?Can you suggest some similar names that have the same feel but aren't quite as "out there"?ETA: also what do you think about Valentina?

I have actually seen a few babies in the Swedish birth announcements with the name Valkyrie. I think it could work. Valentine is a pretty normal female name in France, and its on my list.

Congratulations!I love Valentine and Valentina, I find Valkyrie awful, it conveys images of Wagnerian sopranos. Have you thought about Valerie or Valeria?

Well I think Valentine is perfectly acceptable on a girl, it's not "out there" at all. Same with Valentina. They are very elegant and unique, and can use the more common Val as a nickname. I personally would love to meet a little girl Valentine (I'm one of those who think it's far too girly to be used on boys). Valkyrie is pretty intense. Other names you might like:Ursula
Sunny
Isolde
Velvet (this was the name of my grade school music teacher!)
Viola
Violet

Congratulations!
Valkyrie and Valentine are nms, but they're okay, and I like Val.
Valerie and Verity come to mind as less 'out there' :)

Valentina is more usable than Valentine imo, but it could work. Valkyrie is definately a gp.
