Re: Andrew
I know two Andrews. One is my nephew and the other is my son-in-law.My nephew doesn't have a nickname. He is always called Andrew. My son-in-law's nickname is Drew. His friends call him that. He despises Andy. Recently a new acquaintance was calling him Andy in a joking way, and I had to warn him to cease and desist, because it will make my son-in-law angry. My daughter, however, always calls him Andrew and never Drew. I picked it up from her and I always call him Andrew. He doesn't object to being called by his full name, he just objects to Andy.I live in South Carolina and so does my son-in-law. My nephew lives in Georgia, although his parents, my brother and sister-in-law, are originally from New Jersey. My son-in-law's parents are also originally from the North, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.I like the name Andrew, although I concur with my son-in-law that I don't like Andy. The possible nickname Andy is one reason that I wouldn't use Andrew. The other reasons are its popularity. Even though I've only known two Andrews, there have to be a lot more out there. Because of its popularity, it is a little boring.
