Liza
This is an old favorite. I just recently thought of it again. I like it as a full name and I pronounce it LY-za. It doesn't really work in Germany as it sounds close to a German word but I like it anyways. What do you think of Liza? Do you see it as dated like Lisa?Do you think it works as a full name? Or only as a nickname for Elizabeth?Do you pronounce it like I do? (I've heard it pronounced like Lisa once and was a bit confused).Do you know anyone named Liza? Do you know whether they have any difficulties with their name (people assuming they were an Elizabeth or anything)?Do you prefer Liza over Lisa? Elizabeth over Liza? Thanks

I know a little 5-or-6 year old girl named Liza. I think it's really cute, but I would prefer it as a nickname for Elizabeth.I've never heard it pronounced any other way than LY-za. It's much more fresh than Lisa!Eliza is my preference overall, though.

I like Liza the best over Lisa and Elizabeth. It's unusual and quirky and sharp. I like Eliza more than Liza, only because the only thing I can think of when I hear Liza is Liza Minnelli. I really love the character Liza has, though. I think it has great potential to be jazzy and feisty. Edited to add: I forgot to mention, I have never met anyone named Liza.

-Liza is too strongly linked to Liza Minelli for me to see it on a little girl. Since she is over 60 years old, I can only picture it on a loud, brash woman well past her prime.Do you think it works as a full name? Or only as a nickname for Elizabeth?
-I think it *could* work as a full name, but I think it's much nicer as a NN for Elizabeth.Do you pronounce it like I do?
-Yes.Do you know anyone named Liza?
-No.Do you prefer Liza over Lisa? Elizabeth over Liza?
-I prefer Lisa and Elizabeth over Liza.

I think Liza is alright. I don't think it's dated in the same way Lisa is. It feels older. But it also feels like one of those older names that now would be fresh and modern sounding.I don't think Liza would make a good full name. It should be a nn.I pronounce it the same way as you (LIE-za), and have never heard it any other way.I've never known anyone named or nicknamed Liza, though I did know an Eliza once. My mom loves Liza though.I prefer most anything over Lisa. I really dislike Lisa. Elizabeth I prefer over Liza a lot too. I love Elizabeth and would use it on a daughter.

I like Liza and don't think it'd dated at all. I only like it as a nickname for Elizabeth, though. I would never use it on its own.I don't pronounce it like Lisa. Lisa has a long E sound and a soft S. Liza has a long I sound and then a Z.I've never known anyone named Liza. I knew a Lisa who was really an Elizabeth, but no Elizabeths who went by Liza.I definitely prefer Liza over Lisa. I think that Elizabeth is a great name, but too long to use on a regular basis, and Liza makes a good nickname, so I can't say that I prefer one over the other.
