Lolita is a nn for LolaIt means "little Lola". So I prefer Lola.Though Lola is really a nn for Dolores :)"You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed."

Nabokov ruined the name for most people--a Lolita is a young girl who is sexually active in common parlance. It also reminds me of Japanese street fashion, as in the style Elegant Gothic Lolita--the point of that style of dress is to look like a child.I prefer Dolores, which is very pretty. Array
Get into the car
We'll be the passenger
We'll ride through the city tonight
See the city's ripped insides
We'll see the bright and hollow sky
We'll see the stars that shine so bright
The sky was made for us tonight

agree.... not only is a Lolita "a young girl who is sexually active," but one who is provocative to / active with much older, adult men. Seems like the mother of a 12-year old daughter named Lolita ought to be ridiculously paranoid, as well as it being an embarrassing name to have for a college-age woman.- chazda

I like Dolores or Charlotte with the nn Lo/Lola/Lolita but on it's own I would go so far to say it is cruel. Lolita is one of my favourite books but you can't get away from how the name is now used. Alice

I think a lot of celebrities are using the name. Or maybe it's Lola?

Lolita is really nmsaa... I think maybe because I hate the name Lola (for personal reasons) and maybe it is because they are kinda close.. I am not really sure?"Never make someone a priority, who only makes you an option."
