Can't stand it. In Australia its like the most dated, bogan, awful name you can think of. Kind of like the equivalent of trailer trash names in the US.And no, I don't think it will ever become common. Sorry that sounds so harsh, i just really hate that name lolCharlotte on the other hand is lovely :)

I really don't like it. =/ It sounds kinda...trashy to me. I apologize to anyone named Charlene. I definitely prefer Charlotte to Charlene. I pronounce it shar-LEEN.

-Frankly, I think Charlene is a little cheap. I also think it's quite dated; I've never met a young Charlene.-I honestly couldn't say. Charlotte is more of a classic, Charlene is a bit more modern, say 50's or 60's. I think it will take a while for that class of names to come back.-Definitely Charlotte. Charlotte sounds sophisticated and has been used for centuries.-What's the difference? I guess I pronounce it the first way.I like how you ask your questions, by the way. You're very organized.

It lacks the classic charm of Charlotte.
I think it would have caught on in the '80s if it was going to catch on at all, because it was the nameof Kylie Minogue's character in "Neighbours" opposite Jason Donovan (she played an apprentice car mechanic and they had a teenage wedding - bless!) :~)
In those days "Neighbours" was really big in Oz.

I seriously don't see how it is dated. It has the potential to become more common, but I only see that happening if Charlotte makes the top 25 or so.For me, Charlene has more sentimental value as I remember when I was younger I really liked the name. Charlotte is a more recent like for me.
