I love Victoria but I'm not so fond of any nicknames for it. I prefer it in its full version. Still I prefer Vicky over Tori.

My second dd is Victoria Brooke so naturally, I love Victoria. We had planned to call her Tori but have instead called her Brooke. She told me one day that had we called her Tori, she wouldn't have been happy with that since it's so girlish. She would have rather been called Toria which surprised me. After thinking about it, Toria is nice too and I've only heard of one in my entire life. I like Tora too. I guess if I had to rate the nns for Victoria, I'd say Tora, Toria and Tory (I prefer this spelling now), however, my fave could change on a given day. My dd hates Vicky (she has been called Icky Vicky by her friends in a good-natured way but she still hates that). I have to say I agree; I'm not feeling the Vicky love either. Another nn I've heard of is Vita. I'm not sure how I feel about that one.Victoria is classic, elegant yet completely approachable. The nns are spunky. It's a win/win for me. Some days I wish my dh and I had called our dd Victoria / Tory, Tora, etc.

When I hear Victoria, I think of Queen Victoria. I picture a short, round woman dressed in black with a sour expression on her face. When I hear Tori, I think of Tori Spelling. Therefore, I don't much care for the name. I suppose if I had to choose between those two images, I'd go with Victoria.

Victoria is lovely - it's one of the few long names I like. Tori isn't used very much in the UK because 'Tory' is a political affiliation here, so it sounds very American to me. I prefer Victoria as a full name, but if I had to shorten it I'd use Vicky.

I think Victoria is very regal and almost a bit pretentious. I'd imagine a Victoria to be sophisticated. I don't really like Tori, but I like it much better than Vicky. I'd much prefer to see Victoria as a name than just Tori-- I don't usually like nicknames as full names.

I just can't get the ol' "classy elegant queen" association to mind. The only thing that comes to mind when I hear this name is a really stuck-up girl that senselessly picks on everyone to feel more powerful. As for the nickname Tori? It makes me think of a spunky yet assertive girl. I prefer Tori.

I went to high school with a Tori and her full name was Victoria. So now I always associate the nn Tori with Victoria.

I love Victoria. ♥ I think of my friend from elementary school (who had a sister called Sophia) who was such a lovely intelligent girl. I really dislike Tori (and all other nicknames I can think of). Tori feels the same to me as Brittany, Courtney, etc. It's very ditzy.

Victoria has an elegant, sophisticated, very classy connotation. I think of the queen, or a woman who fits the description of the connotation.Tori, on the other hand, is very cute and very spunky. I think of a tomboyish, assertive, smart and fun girl.I can't say I find one preferable to the other, as I just think of Tori as being a nickname for Victoria. I don't like Tori on its own, I think it should always be a nickname for Victoria.Victoria gets a lot of love on this board, I've noticed, while Tori gets very little. Many are the comments along the lines of, "I love Victoria, but I just can't stand any of its nicknames, like Vicky or Tori."I don't understand this, as I find Tori adorable. My daughter is named Victoria with the nickname Torrie, by the way. (We spell it that way.) And my daughter is an assertive, smart, and fun young woman, so that her nickname fits her and she loves it. But she also loves having a sophisticated, elegant, classy full name.
