I like Peter. It is a nice classic. It is one of those names I like enough to consider using, but it isn't high enough on my list to actually get around to using.

Peter is okay, but I don't like Pete at all. So I wouldn't use Peter.

Peter is my #1 name for a boy. I grew up loving it, but then again my brother's name is Peter. I still love it, but then again my dh's name is Peter. I can't help it. I just love it to pieces. For me it sparkles with intelligence and class -- just like my dh and my brother . . . hmmmm . . . . Peter Desmond is my favorite combo. I know you didn't ask for these, but here are some others that you might like:Peter Andrew
Peter Lawrence
Peter Damien
Peter Adrian
Peter Eamonn ("AY-mun")
Peter LachlanGood luck!

This is a name that I just hate, though it is an old classic and all that, etc. I am just not a fan of the long E sound. This must be the reason that I also don't like Stephen\Steven. And Peter also always makes me think of peanuts, to the extent that I can just about taste them when I hear this name. Also, whenever the idea of a name being teaseworthy comes up, (Lavinia will be teased for sounding like lavatory, Dick will be teased for obvious reasons), I always wonder why nobody ever mentions Peter in this context, as "peter" is a slang term for the male reproductive organ. The nickname Pete is abhorrent.

If I didn't know such an egotistical warthog with the name, I wouldn't mind it so much. But, as it is...

Brilliant! Perhaps a bit early for a major comeback, but deserves to be steadily and consistently in use. One of the best classics.
