Maria
I'm finding a new growing love of Maria, I've loved Mary for awhile but was never a huge fan of it's variations (I like some, just not many). Maria has just been growing on me recently, I love it with French names either as a first or middle name. So what are your opinions of Maria? What's your favorite Mary name (if any)? Combo suggestions? I don't like Marie at all. I can respect it, but it's my grandmother's name, which for some people would be a good thing, but my family's relationship with my grandmother is... not great. I wouldn't want to name my daughter after her at all.
Combos:
Maria Therese (my favorite)
Maria Josephine
Maria Cecile
Maria Noelle
Maria Bernadette
Maria Eleonore / Eleonore Maria Rosemonde Maria
Seraphine Maria
Isabelle / Isabel Maria
Catherine Maria / Maria Catherine
Rosalie Maria

I can't say I like it, but its not bad. my major dislike of it is its so close to my name that I've been called Maria alot and really dislike it. so I'm Biased. My fav. Mary name is Mariah, but as I said before i'm biased.

That's kind of ironicBecause Maria used to be pronounced like Mariah in 19th century England. Mariah is pretty too though ^_^

Maria is pretty, albeit it a bit plain. Maria Therese is my favorite out of all your combos.

Ah, thanks~

I don't like Marie very much either. It's the kind of name most people put on a dump cart for middle names, along with Renee.
I love Mary, and I like Maria, if used as a German name.
Out of your combos, I only like Maria Catherine.
Personally I think that when people use Maria, they should go for a German combo (unless of course they're Hispanic or Italian). My favorite combos are...
Maria Theresa/Theresia
Maria Magdalena (this is the one I would use)
Maria Margarethe
Anna Maria
Maria Augusta
Henrike Maria
Frederike Maria
Maria Frederike
Henriette/Henrietta Maria
Maria Wilhelmina
Caroline Maria

Ah I'm ItalianBut Maria is a variation used in many many more languages than those three. I don't like German names much, I think of Latin when I think of Maria actually. Part of what I like Maria is that it can be quite universal.I like:Maria Theresa/Theresia
Maria Magdalena (I'd use this too)
Anna Maria
Maria Augusta (Not a huge fan of Augusta. I do like Maria Augustine though)

Yeah, I like Maria in the Latin context too...that's the only other way I like it, really.
In that case, I also like Maria Antonia.

Which is also a quite traditional Southern German name. ;-)
Make it Maria Antonie and it's even more traditional (and quite dated)Sorry, I went off-topic here.

Maybe, and as much as I like traditional and dated, Maria Antonie doesnt flow as well.

Antonie is pronounced almost the same as Antonia, if you say it in German.
vote up1
Yeah, but still...Antonia would look better in America, and although I am very proud of my German heritage, I don't want a feminine name that in English looks like a weird variant of Anthony or Antony.

I think Maria is a decent, classic name; not one of my favourites, though.Of your combos I likeMaria Therese - very royal ;-) Reminds me of Maria Theresia of Austria
Maria Cecile
Maria Bernadette - that's pretty close to Maria Bernarde, the girl who had visions of Mary at Lourdes.
Maria Eleonore.I think I prefer Maria as a first name. So, you're looking for combo suggestions with French names?

Hmmm, it's a pity your sister is named Christine - I actually really like Maria Christine. And I like Maria Augustine as well.Yeah, Maria Virginie is great, isn't it? ;)
I would never use it on a real child but... I kind of like the idea.Actually, you could put the whole Holy Family into one combo:
Isa Maria Josephine ;-)
(Just kidding. It's getting late and I'm getting silly. Sorry)
