Re: Hermione
in reply to a message by Lily8
Well, I do think it's useable...J.K. Rowling didn't find it just anywhere...it's actually kind of popular in England. Not a top 100 name, but it's much more popular over in England than it is in America...in America you're more likely to see Persephone...the few American Hermione's almost always have a sister named Persephone.
I love Hermione...it's in my top 10. I like the combo Hermione Alexandra, and yes, I think we will start to see more (I'm already seeing more, along with Persephone and Calliope) but no, I don't know anyone by the name Hermione because I think J.K. Rowling exposed the name to America where before Hermione was just an obscure Greek mythological name that just so happened to be popular in England and have a popular equivalent in Germany.
I pronounce it just like they pronounce it in the movies...her-mayan-ee.
I love Hermine, and yes, I know that it's her name in the German version...I happen to own Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen.
