Jack
What is your opinion of the name Jack? Would you use it? I am speaking of the name Jack on its own, not as a nickname.
I like it, and it always makes me breathe a sigh of relief amidst a sea of other overzealously fanciful modern names. I really cannot emphasize enough how tasteful I think it is to be understated.
Jack Benjamin
Jack Edmund
Jack Henry
Jack Samuel
Jack Silas

My absolute favourite boys name!!!! I don't care how popular it is and I would absolutely use it by itself!
I think it's alright. I like all the combos. i thik you and I have quite similiar taste since I almost love all of the names you mentioning here on opinions board :P
I love Jack! I know it's common, but I too have always found it so simple, fresh, and just wonderful. I would use it easily, and I'm always torn on whether I would use it on its own or as a nickname (I tend to lean towards the nickname), but my husband doesn't like it so it's out anyway.
Jack Benjamin is excellent. Although I am of course partial to Benjamin. I also really like the combos Jack Addison (someone around here mentioned it once and I really liked it) and Jack Oliver.

I like it. I would use it if it wasn't my ex boyfriends name!
I quite like Jack, but only as a nickname for John. I would never use it on its own.
I like Jack too...but I really adore it as a nickname for John. Although it is rather classic...I'd much, much rather see a baby Jack than a baby Braiden.
And I agree with you: I'm not a huge fan of extravagant modern names. I definitely prefer the simple, old-time classics and I will swoon over a nice, simple name more than a pretentious fancy one (I was beaming upon hearing that Tom Brady named his son John Edward Thomas, which I absolutely adore).
Jack Benjamin is my favourite combo out of the one's you listed. John Edmund Francis "Jack" is a combo I came up with, so I'm not as fond of Edmund with just Jack. Jack Henry and Jack Silas seem too short, but Jack Samuel has a really nice flow.

I really like Jack, and my DBF and I are trying to fit it into a name somewhere. =P
My favorite is Jack Edmund by far. I like the others a lot, but for some reason, I want to use Samuel Jack instead of Jack Samuel. All of the combos are really classy, though, and would be great on a young boy, teenager, middle-ager, or old man.

I don't find it understated. I feel like it is a self-conscious little dagger of a modern name, like Max. Ugly and pretentiously unpretentious.
I really enjoy the name Jack and you're right: it IS a breathe of fresh air.
Jack Henry is my pick.
Jack Henry is my pick.
I like the name, but it will always remind me on movie Titanic.
