Mabel
I'm wondering if Mabel is starting to come back in. I know a family who had a baby a few months ago and named her Mabel Virginia. I also recently ran across a blog written by a woman who has an almost 2-year-old daughter named Mabel Rae. And today I've seen a couple of people post Mabel as an idea on this board.
What do you think? Is Mabel due to come out of obscurity? The last time it was on the SSA Top 1000 was in 1964 at #946.

I think Mabel could make a comeback, but I will always see it as a horribly frumpy name. I can see how it has a certain appeal for other people, but I hate it.
Maybe.
I recently met someone who has a daughter named Mabel (age 3).

I think yes. It's endearing.

Yeah I think it's going to. I came around pretty recently, but now I think it's adorable; I am not ten years ahead of everyone, so I suspect a lot of parents or parents-to-be feel the same way. :D
Sure hope so. It's such a sweet little name. I rather like Maple too.

I really like it,I think I must have been one of the people posting :-)
If it does get too popular there is also Maple, a lovely alternative I think.
Mhm... Maple sirup! :-)

I love Mabel! I hope it doesn't become immensely popular.
I think Mabel is totally back in. Hipster city! I'm surprised it's not more popular than it is.
I find it very endearing.

YES,
I've been saying this for a while and everyone's like "...no... its too old".
But it's absolutely due for a comeback. It's got all the bits that can make it trendy. (Old fashioned, consonant ending, long a sound, plenty of ways it can be misspelled/elaborated). It's very similar to Hazel, which has risen a lot too.
I'm waiting for it to pick up, yes.
