Pronunciation...
Would you pronounce Evangeline ee-vange-uh-leen or Uh-vange-uh-leen?
Replies

ih-van-gel-EEN
schwa
So the second one, I guess.
So the second one, I guess.
eh-VAN-jeh-leen
something like that
something like that
Me three
Yep, same for me
Neither; I say eh-VAN-jeh-lynn
uh-vange-uh-leen
eev-ANJ-uh-leen
I say (ee-VAN-jeh-LEEN) in English and (ay-VOWn-zhay-LEEN) in French. Kinda hard to transliterate the French pronunciation.
eh-VAN-jeh-leen
Eh-van-juh-leen
ditto
Eh-VAN-jeh-leen
The first one. Pronouncing the letter E as "Uh" doesn't sound right.
ee-VAN-jeh-*line*...
I don't say ee or uh.. it's more like eh. Short e, like Evelyn. Eh-vange-uh-leen. This is how the Evangeline I know pronounces her name.
Eev-ange-uh-leen
Ditto this
Hmpf. I've always said ee-VAN-jə-leen but BtN says it's ə-VAN-jə-leen. I don't like that pronunciation at all, so I'll continue saying EE-, I guess.
