Alfred
This name is really growing on me. WDYT?

It's the name for the personification of the United States of America in a pretty popular manga/anime series. Even though I don't follow the series, that's what I think of first, but I'm sure I'm probably pretty alone in that.
As far as "fred" names go, I prefer Frederick, but I think Alfred could grow on me. I just haven't thought about it much.

I think it's adorable and distinguished all at the same time! I think Alfie is a cute nickname.
Its actually a name starting to grow on me too.
I think of Batman's butler. It's okay, but as far as Al names go, I prefer Albert.
Eee! I enjoy Alfred very much. To be fair it might just be because of my love for the nn Freddie. Alf/Alfie is fun too but I definitely like Freddie or just Alfred better. (Also I associate Alf with John Lennon's doucher dad)
ANYway, Alfred has always seemed, not necessarily in a nerdy way, very smart to me. I approve. :)

I think it's pretty awesome. It's very studious. And for some reason flannel shirt-wearing. I have a friend named Benjamin Alfred, which I think is an awesome combo.

I like it :) It's quite popular here.
I like Alfred. I like it a lot more than Albert.
Even though I've only heard of him, there's Alfred Hitchcock!
You can always call him Al (yuck), Fred (awesome), Freddie (also cool), or just plain old Alfred (so nice).

Makes me think of chicken alfredo, the very dish I just made my family for dinner, and the name itself doesn't sound very attractive to me either. I guess I can see some of the appeal. Has a medieval feel too it and is underused. I think I'd like it better as a middle name though, or as a full name for Freddy.
Let me try a few combos just for fun...

Morgan Alfred
Jocelin Alfred
Baxter Alfred
