3 new Hebrew names
I came across these names in an Israeli movie:
Keren: love the "ray of light" meaning, not so much the "horn" one. Is it too close to Karen (which is ok but seems a bit dated to me)?
Meir: I love the meaning of this one, too.
Shiran: I find Shira so-so (possibly because of a bad personal association), but I rather like Shiran. According to another site (don't know how reliable it is, though), it means "happy song", which woulld be super-cool as a meaning.

In my view Keren would get mistaken for the rather dated Karen and is too close to it for comfort. That "ray of light" meaning might be stretching it a bit - the ray of light that's seen through the animal's horn!
Meir is interesting, and is evocative of a great medieval scholar and his wife Bruria (Beruria), a great scholar in her own right. The feminine Meira is pretty - I once came across the transliteration Mayira by googling, which produced a newborn called Mayira Levana. Cute!
Shiran is unisex.
I like it better than Shira too, though I do like Shira.
However, it's a bit like Iran, just as the delectable Liraz is a bit like Shiraz.
