Bruno
I've been reading about Bruno Schultz, and the name has started growing on me. It's got this mittel-European feel to it, yet works well in Latin languages too. And it would honour my mother, whose mn is Bruna. On the other hand, it's a bit old-mannish. Any thoughts?

I don't think it is old manish and I like it. I wouldn't use it myself but it's a nice strong masculine name that isn't too popular. Being a Spanish teacher I like how it can be used in the Latin languages unlike so many names that are popular right now.

I have always liked the name Bruno, but I think the new Sacha Baron Cohen movie coming out soon might render it unusable.

I actually know someone who named her son Bruno. I wouldn't ever use it because it's a bit too out there for me - I get both an old man feeling and a dog name vibe from it (and now there's the movie to deal with). But it actually was quite cute to here her talk about her little Bruno. I think there was some latin influence in the naming since she was originally from Argentina.

I like Bruno in spite of the fact that the only one I ever met was a hot, but really stupid Brazilian guy. :-D Bruno is unusual here, but I enjoy that. I can see how it can sound a bit old, but I think my view changed when I worked Bruno because he is not much older than me.

I absolutely love Bruno. I knew the coolest guy named Bruno who was so sweet and really funny and he just made me like the name that much more. :)

I like it and don't think of it as dated. The oldest Bruno I know is in his 30s, and a friend of mine had a baby Bruno in April this year.

I love Bruno! I'm also smitten with Brunella.

Bruno is such a pig's name for me. :-/ I also think it sounds quite comedic, in the way Bob or Fritz seem comedic to me. Aside from that, I just hate Br- letter combination, so it's not for me anyway.

With that new movie coming out, not so much.Bruno was also my name in one of my language classes. It's okay, but to me, a little out-dated.

All I can think of at present is the new movie "Brüno". I've seen a million advertisements lately, and frankly it's tainted my view of the name for the time being! Besides making me think of the character, Bruno does have an old-man vibe. I can't imagine it on a small child.

I like it, but I wouldn't use it. I'm not sure if the new Brüno movie will make the popularity rise or fall though, but maybe that isn't an issue for you?

Also the name of the dog in Cinderella...

Urgh, I'm so out of touch! Had to check out the movie now on IMDB.I'm not going to have a child in the immediate future (plus this would be for a hypothetical second son), if ever, so presumably worrying if people would think I've picked the name from the movie isn't an issue.

Bruno is quite cute, imo. I picture a sweet little boy, like the one in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
