Wow I hate Carl. Someone said Charles was dated and ugly, that's the way I feel about Carl. It reminds me of hurl (slang for vomiting) and snarl. I can't see how Charles would ever be considered dated, it's been around for ever, I can't think of one decade it's dated to! Charles is a royal name that has been used by kings, from tons of different countries. Also, in the Middle Ages, Carl was used as a nickname for a villain, or a person of low birth and rude manners. Yuck.

Charles is amazingly handsome. It's classic, classy, and Charlie is just about the cutest nickname ever.
