Actress Maura Jo West and her husband, actor Scott DeFreitas welcomed their fourth child together on June 16th. Daughter Birdie West DeFreitas came into the world weighing 7 lbs., 13 oz and measuring 20 inches long.
Baby girl joins Benjamin Crawford West Knight, 13, (Maura’s son with ex-husband Jonathan Knight), Joseph Peter DeFreitas, 9, Katherine Marie DeFreitas, 7, and Basil John DeFreitas, 2.

ETA: Apparently she was named after Scott’s grandmother Birdie. Joseph's middle name is also honoring after Maura's brother Peter.

This is the second celebrity Birdie born recently (Busy Phillips’ daughter is also Birdie). Personally, I don’t mind it as a nickname, but not a fan of it as a full name. It also doesn’t seem to go with the more classic names her other kids have.

At first I thought you'd written Bridie and I was going to say how adorable that was, then I saw it was Birdie. :/ I don't think it works well as a full name but I can't imagine what it should be a nn for. Bridget?

I think Birdie goes fine with the other kids names, especially Basil. To me, Birdie is one of the vintagy cute names. I have always had a soft spot for this. The only full name I can think of for this is Bertha, which is awful. I do like the obscure Anglo-Saxon name of Birdsmonde though.

It's almost like they gave up on the names lol. My great-great grandmother's name was Ida "Birdie" Mae (Birdie was her nn) and that wouldn've been fine even as a mn. Poor baby.

Her fourth, his second! Not really sure Benjamin & Birdie DeFreitas really work together. Find all her choices a bit boring apart from Basil!

It's her fifth and his fourth. Only the oldest is from her ex and his name would be Benjamin Knight.
