Mercy
I really love this name, but I feel others don't. Some say it's trashy. I am totally into biblical names and all my other favorites are and I am considering it a favorite, as the virtue Mercy is portrayed throughout my faith and in the bible. What do you think of this name? I really don't like Mercedes, just Mercy. Yes or No?Middle names are always after family, here are some possibilites:
Mercy Lorraine
Mercy Bernadette
Mercy Aletha
Mercy Caroline (not sure on this one as the person it honors is just Carol)
Mercy Marie (kind of singsongy but it has a lot of meaning)Auntie to: Robert, Brady, Juliana & Sophia.

I like Mercy. I don't see as trashy at all. It is very Puritan to me but I do like it. It is old fashioned, has meaning and is off the beaten path. It is the same style as Grace, Faith and Hope so it not that unusual. Mercy Lorraine - ok
Mercy Bernadette - very religious
Mercy Aletha - not my style
Mercy Caroline - my favorite out of your choices
Mercy Marie - sounds too much like "Mercy me!"

I like it a lot. I don't love many virtue names for some reason (too common or too out there, usually), but this is one I like a lot. But I know two women named Mercy, so that's helped--One who has a daughter named Faith, and the other (mn Fatima) from Nigeria who is very nice and very smart.

Mercy is actually one of only a few virtue names that I like, and I like it a lot. I love Mercy Lorraine (as Lorraine is climbing up my list at the moment). I say, go with that!"No one can make you feel inferior without your consent."

I like it but would use it only in the middle name spot because no one else seems to agree with me.That said, I DO know of a pair of sisters named Mercy and Lois. They're, like, 3 and 6, respectively. I think that rocks. :-D

I don't think Mercy is "trashy" at all. It refers to an aspect of religion I dislike, and so I'd never use it myself. But going by aesthetics, I love it.You could also consider Mercia, which is beautiful. From the combos you gave, I only like Mercy Marie. (I just dislike the other names.)_____________________________________________________________________Elinor'Why do people with closed minds, always open their mouths?'

I quite like the name Mercy, I can see it's appeal. Mercy Caroline is a nice combo. I think it would work for honouring someone named Carol.

I like Mercy but worry that a little girl would constantly get Marcy (which I do not like). I'll be the odd one out and say that Mercy Marie is my favorite combo (fn/mn with same letter is a secret love of mine...) The flow is very nice and I say if Marie is meaningful, use it! Marie is a family name for me as well and so despite its use as a "filler mn" I'll likely use it. ----Betsy-----

Mercy has been one of my long-standing favorites; it goes along with some of my others like Mary and Margaret, I think. I prefer it on its own as I don't particularly like Mercedes and it also is a complete name to me instead of a nickname.I'm not normally into the name Lorraine but I think Mercy Lorraine sounds beautiful.

Mercy is gorgeous; in fact, it's one of my favorites. :-)Mercy Lorraine, Mercy Bernadette, Mercy Caroline, and Mercy Aletha are all wonderful (though the last one may be laying on the virtues too thick because Aletha means "truth"). I like Marie, but I agree that Mercy Marie is singsongy and Marie is extremely overused as a middle name.

I absolutely love the name Mercy! I never considered it until I found out I had a great(x ?) gradmother named Mercy Ann. I thought it was so pretty! I hate the name Mercedes! Now my mom hates the name Mercy and prefers Marcy. I can't wrap my arms around Marcy but maybe you can. I'd love to use Mercy, but it'll propably only be as a middle name because of my mom! *sigh*I love Mercy Caroline! Mercy Marie is also pretty but I'm not a fan of first and middle names starting with the same letter or having the same sound! :)Mercy Caroline is alright or you might also want to consider Mercy Carolyn which always seems closer to Carol than Caroline does, to me anyway! :)

The mn ideas are nms, but I love Mercy! It's so pretty and classy.
Can you tell I just recently started liking it? hehe. I'm still "peppy" about it.-Seda*

Mercy Lorraine and Mercy Caroline sound the best to me. I'm not wild about the name Mercy. It seems easy to tease. I like Mercedes even less. I always think of cars.

I like it.I've always liked the name Mercy. Such a simple, beautiful name.Mercy Bernadette and Mercy Lorraine are terrific. Mercy Aletha isn't my cup of tea.Mercy Caroline sounds pretty, but I'm in the mood for something less popular than Caroline.Mercy Marie won't work, sorry.

Mercy isn't trashy at all--it's a gorgeous name that deserves to be better used than it is. I think that it's lovely.Mercy Lorraine and Mercy Marie are my favourites. I don't like Mercy Caroline so well, but I would love Mercy Carol or Mercy Carole; I think those sound wonderful.Array
