I *think* that may-a is the correct "Roman" pronunication for Maia
and my-a for Maya. DOn't ask me why.

You learn something new every day!I guess Maia makes more sense as 'my-a' to me because I speak a lot more Maori than I do 'Roman' (because I speak no 'Roman' lol), and the 'ai' vowel is always pronounced to rhyme with 'my'. Also, every Maia I've met is 'MY-a', so there's probably that influence too. And Maya looks like may + a, hence that assumption, I guess.

Yes, should beas the correct pronunciation of Gaia is GAY-ah. At least my professor told me so. Still I'd pronounce it GAH-yah, should I use it.

You're right about Maia, at least according to "classical" Latin pronunciation. It being a dead language the pronunciation rules are a little arbitrary. MY-a would be spelled Maea though.
