Noemi
This name has been on my mind because of a very aggravating political scandal in Italy (for those who don't know, this is the person in question http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noemi_Letizia), but I have to admit the name's rather nice, esp. if you associate it to the Biblical character, who's rather cool, rather than to a skanky 18-yo with a rich sugar daddy. WDYTO Noemi? I prefer it to Naomi, which I've never been very keen on.

I also prefer Noemi to Naomi. It's really pretty and flows off the tongue nicely. It's unfortunate that it's tied to the scandal there. I guess I feel that way about Monica here. :-)
I once had a french pen pal named Noemie. I think it's very pretty :) I prefer the 'e' on the end though.
Noemi is fairly popular in my area, beginning about 10 years ago. It's a pretty name.
It is rather pretty, but I prefer Naomi.
I'm not a fan of Naomi but Noemi just doesn't sound right and it's actually a bit hard for me to say with the O and the E right next to each other. I like Naemi much better than both Naomi and Noemi.
While I prefer Naomi, I think Noemi is a wonderful name. It sounds very poetic and lyrical.
I don't like Naomi, and I don't like Noemi either. Even though I know that Naomi is an ancient Biblical name with an ancient pedigree, it still just sounds like a random bunch of syllables to me, and so does Noemi.
I really like Noemi a lot; it's a great twist on Naomi (which I also love). I'd never even heard of Noemi Letizia and I follow the news like my dog follows food. Skankfest girl here would never come to my mind, and that association probably won't be a big turnoff for a lot of others.
I think it's lovely! I really do.

Apparently the affair's been covered in the non-Italian media as well, but still I'm not surprized she isn't getting much coverage in the US media. And even in Italy, hopefully she'll sink into oblivion sometime in the not too remote future.
