Fabulous role models
Love it. I first heard the name in the 70's, watching "Shoulder to Shoulder," a BBC drama about British suffragettes. Christabel Pankhurst (and sisters Sylvia, Adela, and Mom Emmeline) were brave, interesting and wore yummy Edwardian, period costumes. :-)In the 80's I saw Elizabeth Hurley star in a BBC drama about Christabel Bielenberg, a real British woman who married a German and hid Jews in Nazi Germany. Extremely cool. And costumes! :-)Then I read somewhere that Queen Elizabeth II's aunt was Alice Christabel. I didn't see any pictures, but I image fabulous vintage clothing in my mind. :-)So Christabel is associated in my brain with fierce, brave women with great wardrobes. Is there anything better? Oh, the (Coleridge) poetry association is nice too.I love the crisp sound of Christabel. I can almost hear a bell tinkling. Love, love, love it. And the costumes!
