Posy
I know floral names are extremely popular (especially on this board, to the point of exasperation) with Lily being especially adored. Have any of you considered Posy? It's virtually unused as a name, and in my opinion, one of the most adorable floral names of all. Of course, in English, all the spellings Posie, Posey and Posy are acceptable for the word, but I myself am foremost drawn to the spelling Posy.

I really like it as a nn, either for Josephine, or for any flower name. If I ended up using Violet, I'd probably call her Posy from time to time. It reminds me of the character Bunchy in the Milly-Molly-Mandy books, whose really name was Violet Rosemary May (I think).Totally unrelated: just wiki'd Milly Molly Mandy to check that I'd got the character's name right. Apparently the stories were created for a Christian Science magazine.

I quite like it as a nickname for Proserpina. One of my GP twinsets is Persephone "Penny" and Proserpina "Posy".

Posy is my favorite nn for Josephine, but I wouldn't use it as a standalone.

I love Posy as an occasional nickname for Josephine. It would also make a sweet middle name. However, I find it unappealing as a first name.

I like it as a nn for RoseRose is one of my top names, and my hypothetical Rose would get called Posy occasionally. I like it better than Rosie.Posy as a stand alone name won't age well IMO

I'm not a huge fan of the sound of it, but it is an extremely cute name. I don't think it would age all that well, but I'd be fine with it as a nickname. I think it would even be a nice nickname to see. But what for, I haven't a clue.

See, I think Posy is good for any age. I can picture a darling little toddle, a spunky but pleasant teenager, and a refined and caring grandmother with it.I think think it would age splendidly, especially if it were a nickname for Josephine (which is another of those names I want to like much like Posy, but for reasons unbeknownst to me I don't.)

That could work. I really like that, actually!

I like it. It's cute and I can see it easily on a little girl and a grown woman (though she's an exceptionally sweet grown woman).

It wouldn't appear on my list either, but with the plethora of posts on this board about Primrose and Jonquil et al, Posy hardly seems garish by comparison.

I have thought about it. While it is quite adorable, it's that bit too adorable for my tastes. It's the kind of name I'd love to see on someone else's PNL or child, and I'd admire it, but it's just not quite for me.
