Johnisha
We went to Home Depot today and I saw a girl with the name Johnisha. I thought that it was very lovely as it was to honor her father's name which is John. Wdyt?

Um...noThere are so many other alternatives. Jane, Jean, Janet, Gianna, Joan, Joanna - any of those would have been one thousand times better than Johnisha. That poor girl.

Some feminizations of male names just don't work, imo. This is one of them. Were it me, I'd much rather be named Joanna or Jane.I've seen Johna before.

It's not like there aren't feminine versions of John. I cant think of several off the top of my head, including Jane, Joan, Joanne, Johna, Jonna, Janna, Gianna, Janet, Janice, Jean and Jeanine. Johnisha sounds trashy.

I think I would have just named her Jane.

It's cute, I guess, but I think Joan is a better female form for John. Is it pronounced like JOHN-ish-a or john-EE-sha?

I think it's pronounced like JOHN-ish-a

Don't like it at all - if it's pronounced like I think, it would sound harsh. I'd prefer Janelle, Janna, Johnna, Johanna, Joanna, or something along those lines to honor a John.

I prefer Johnna. Cute idea, though.
I also have a friend named Jonelle.

I perfer Joanne or Joanna. Jonelle is also very nice. Personly I perfer to honour family in the second name eg.Ella Joanne
