Cree
I'm loving Cree (for a boy) at the moment in a gp kind of way. I love it's simplicity and it's connection to the Native American tribe. Do you think it's usable in real life and what do you think of it in general?

I really don't like using nation-names for people, especially if there is no connection. It seems either disrespectful or ultra-nationalist, neither of which is good. It's not just for Cree, either: India, China, Briton/Britain, Ireland...they all kind of make me cringe. There are some exceptions, though- I like France, as a French version of Frank/Frances etc, and I like Asia (which as a name may have originated as a variant transcription of Aisha).
I'm really uncomfortable using Native American/First Nations tribal names as first names, and Cree is no exception.
Putting that aside, I don't like Cree because I find the sound of it unappealing. Plus, when I was a kid, one of my best girlfriends was named Crea (KREE-uh) nn Cree, so it just doesn't sound masculine to me.

I dislike the fact it is a tribal name too.

I adore it it's on my list
More of a sound than a name.
I'm torn between really liking it and absolutely loathing it. Mostly I'm just thinking of a company in my area called Cree that specializes in LED lights and super condeuctors, etc. I don't find it especially usable because of that company but I don't know how wide-spread that association might be.

Thank you! That is a great way to get the name Cree and partially avoid the constant association with the tribe and I love the meaning of it in Irish.
It's pretty great. I also like the connection it has.
But it made me smile, because the pronunciation of it, KREE is much like alien word from Stargate SG-1 "Kree." Which is much like an Earthly military order "Attention." (Though more complicated, but this is the gist of the meaning.)

Exactly what I was thinking
Kree, Jaffa!
Kree, Jaffa!
Oh, Cree as a nn for Christian is really nice!

I like it, but on a girl. The only time I ever heard it was on a girl, it's the name of an actress named Cree Summer. She did the voice of Susie on the Rugrats and does various other voices for various cartoons.
Side note: I just discovered her brother's name was Rainbow, thought it was interesting and worth mentioning.

She was also on A Different World too.
