The name Duane makes me think of a biker guy, only because my late great-uncle was. He pronounced it DWAYN, so that's the one I'm more familiar with.

You do like those "wain" names, don't you? Kudos to you. Someone has to and it couldn't be me. The "dwayn" pronunciaiton is much better than "duh-WAYN." The teasing potential for anyone with a "duh-" sound at the beginning of their name is too tempting.

I'd go for something solid and conventional. Duane needs some boosting in the respect department.

Usually DWAYN, and I dislike it. It's almost the ultimate redneck name, not quite Bubba or Cletus but a close cousin.

It's also a little dated, imo. Duane/Dwayne seems like it was a popular middle name for my father's generation (born in the 50s.)

I find this the most stereotypically redneck name I can think of. I'm reminded of the shock of the Woody Allen character in "Annie Hall" in finding out Annie's brother's named Duane (said Duane turns out to be more or less psychotic).

Ugh! I absolutely despise the name Duane. *shudder*

I like the first pronunciation. Duane James and Duane Michelle are beautiful. Please answer mine.

Prefer the DWANE spelling.
It's not my favourite name, but it's not a bad one.
