I love both, but I think I would use Silvia because it is the original. Then again, Sylvia is the most common spelling in English. I've always been a bit on the fence about that one. Today I am leaning towards Silvia.

I guess I prefer the look of Sylvia, though I'm more used to Silvia.

I love it, though, spelled either way. The Silvia spelling just better emphasizes the cool, silvery qualities of the name.

Sylvia, because it's so familiar, and Silvia, although used by Shakespeare and evocative of silver (and therefore lovely), would be misspelled.
I can just hear the plaintive "Silvia with an i" all through her life, although I have to admit that Silvia is a tempting spelling because it seems so much fresher than Sylvia.
I think I'd stick to the gallic Sylvie - I love it!

Sylvia! Only because that's my mum's name and I'm used to it. When I try to see it objectively, definitely Silvia. I almost always prefer Is over Ys.
