I meet a Ryan girl fn she is about 13 months

I don't really like Ryan and find it very masculine, but if it is honoring and used as a second middle name, I think it would be fine. My mother's mn, as well as both of my aunts, is Elias after my grandfather, so it doesn't bother me as an honoring middle name.

I generally dislike traditional boy's names for girls. What is that teaching them? That masculine is prefered, masculine is good, feminine is bad. People think they're empowering their daughters, but really it's the same old sexist song and dance.

I usually hate masculine names given to girls, but I think Ryan is okay as a middle name, especially since it's a family name. If it were me, I'd just make sure the first name was obviously and unquestionably feminine.

No, I don't like it. It's a last name, as you likely know, and used now as a male name. So, not on a girl.

I think it's very feminine sounding and works well on a girl. I know three female Ryans and only one male Ryan. I also know a girl named Ryanne and a Mackenzie Ryann (girl).

I personally think use of Ryan as a mn for a girl is a little odd, but you could certainly do worse. My sister-in-law named her daughter Hailey Ryen. I think that particular combination (esp with the altered spelling of Ryan) is just awful.

No, why ruin such a strong, handsome, masculine name? I think it's lovely on a boy, I know quite a few male Ryans who fit this description. I simply can't stand the trend of gorgeous boys names going to the girls. There are plenty of other similar feminine names to give to a daughter, why take all of the great boys names? Soon every name will be considered unisex.

I don't like Ryan on a girl, but if it has to be used, the fact that it is a mn and a family name do redeem it somewhat. I would prefer Rhian, Rhianna or even Ryanne or Ryanna. Actually Ryana or Ryanna aren't too bad...

As a MN, go for it! I have Anthony as my second MN (Jade Diana Anthony M.) in honor of my uncle Dana Peter Anthony B. and I love it. I love the strength that Anthony brings to my name, and that it honors Big Dane.

No. I personally would not want to have a masculine personal name as one of my middle names. If you were my mom naming me, and I could give you my opinion, I'd ask you to put Ryana. Or Rhiannon is also a good suggestion. I think you should go by what you would want to be named, if you were the one being born.

I'd prefer to see something feminine on a girl. Since Ryan means "little king," how about something meaning "queen / little queen?"

I think it works. As a first name it sounds a little too masculine and trendy, but as a middle name it's cute.

I don't mind Ryan on a girl. It can work as a middle name.

It's horrible for a girl. I don't see the appeal of using a boy name on a girl.

Personally, I very much dislike Ryan on a girl. It doesn't seem feminine in the slightest. How about Rhian? It's close, but so much more feminine. You have to do what feels right to you, though.
