Kateryna
I want to name my child this(Ukrainian) version of Catherine. Does it sound good? What about short version Katrusya? Is it better to just go with the English version?Thank you!

I thought the Ukrainian version was Ekaterina. Kateryna just looks misspelled to me. These spellings look acceptable:Ekaterina
Catharina
Katarina
Katerina
Yekaterina

Yekaterina is Russian.

I love Kateryna/Katerina, I have for a long time. I even like Ekaterina, although that may not be as Ukrainian. If you or ancestors are from the Ukraine I say honor it. It's not an unusual thing to do these days (even if your family has been here for centuries) and it's a beautiful way to hold on to your heritage.

I love it. Is it like Katerina?

Yep. Maybe little harder sounding "y", as opposed to Russian YekaterEEna.

I like it. Is it pronounced Katerina?

Kateryna is lovely. I would keep Katrusya as a pet name, not a formal one. Kateryna is more user-friendly as she navigates through the world. If you have your heart set on the Ukrainian version, then I'd keep it. It has history and meaning to it and is just as valid as the English variant. Some ethnic names don't "travel well." But Kateryna isn't so scary that it becomes unusable. If she's uncomfortable with Kateryna (nn Katrusya), there's always the same set of English nn possibilites to fall back on: Kat, Kay, Kate, Kitty, Katya, etc., even Trina / Tryna and Tru.

I agree- use Kateryna, not the English one

They both look pretty. How do you pronounce them?My favorite variation/translation of Catherine is Catalina, which is the Spanish version. As far as nicknames go, Cate is the best.

Thank you! It is pronounced Kah-teh-ryh-nah, Kaht-roosya.

Kateryna is pretty. Also, it is pronounced just like it looks, which means people will probably get her name right. However, I'm not so sure on the other one. It's pretty hard to spell and pronounce.
