I was just thinking of this name the other day. It is definately sweet and has a charm to it. I think it could work fine as a mn, but if you want it as a nn here are some first names:

This is one of my short-listed names for the kitten. I think it's adorably sweet. I met a little girl called Bonnie out at the park a while back, and it suited her so well. I probably wouldn't consider it myself, but I'd love to meet a little girl called Bonnie. I think it'd be sweet as a sister to Charlotte too.

Really, it sounds like one of those nicknames that is a term of endearment more than a short version of a full name. I wouldn't sweat it too much if it wasn't all that close.
