In England it's a male name, and not in much use these days. It was used about 1900 mostly, and is inspired by the surname of diarist John Aubrey.
I have heard recently of a fan of the fictional Captain Jack Aubrey (in the Patrick O'Brien sea novels) calling his son "Jack Aubrey".I prefer Audrey or Audra for a girl.
Audra Faye is pretty!
