The Next Royal English Baby
Inspired by my last post, I'd like to know what you think the name of the next baby English royal will be- or should be. Prince William and Kate Middleton certainly aren't going to make it officially any time soon (at least not in my opinion), but when they do, a royal baby will no doubt soon follow. The first born boy will, of course, be the next King of England, and by the time those two reproduce there will probably be a change in promigenture allowing a girl to be an heiress apparent as well. There are a bevy of historical and familial names to choose from- so which would you go with? I'll put mine in a different post.

Philip for a boy. I hope they'll go with something a bit less traditional. There are enough girls named Elizabeth already they should honor in the middle name spot. Elinor would be nice, also Helena or Lenore. I'd also like them to use Anne, it's so charming. Cordelia would be awesome as well or Seraphina.

Lenore could happen...If they could get ride of male preference promigenture in the near future, they could also do away with the pesky feelings towards Catholics- and maybe Spain's Infanta Leonor could be a godmother of a future English royal! Then, to honour her (as they often do), an English variant of Leonor- such as Lenore- could be a middle or even first name.

I was so hoping that the next King (after William) would be James, but since Prince Edward named his son James all my hoped have been dashed:-(Now I’m holding out for Alexander or David (he’d be Prince of Wales). I hate George so not that hopefully!
No idea for a girl, but not Elizabeth or Victoria.

While I appreciate tradition, I still wish they'd be a bit radical (I'm counting on Harry for this). Even if it's going all the way back to a name like Blanch (ugh). No mas Elizabeths, please. I'd also like to see Diana's name used, but it seems at odds with all of the other choices. This is nowhere near what it will be (or should be, lol):Princess Eleanor Louise Henrietta GeorgetteWhen it comes to honoring, I prefer to feminize the names of fathers and such. In this case, George VI and Prince Harry (which may not be appropriate ;-P). Louise was used by Edward VII's daughter, but quite frankly I just... like it, and would have used it without there being a predecessor. Eleanor is my favorite name atm. It's very regal, and always makes me think of Eleanor of Aquitaine. Prince Albert John Richard EdwardAlbert is my favorite of any name ever used. I went back to the Plantagenets for the first two middles. Edward is Edward VIII. ;-)BTW: You wouldn't happen to frequent The Royal Forums, would you?

I agree, Prince Harry's baby is surely going to have some outlandish name- with his type of girlfriends, I wouldn't be surprised if a little Prince Slade or Prince Alfie, or Princess Lexxi or Princess Ruby debuted in the royal family. Your choices are fantastic- Eleanor is a fave of mine as well (though I'm leaning more towards Elinor at the moment). And I go to the Royal Forums alot, actually, but I haven't joined. They are very selective in terms of membership. :(

Since when? =(I'm a member, and I have a total of one post in more years than that. =P
I'm not an expert on anything, like you. You should be posting, not me.LOL. I hope Harry isn't that radical.

For a girl I hope her name is Diana. Princess Diana Elizabeth Mary-Alice Guinevere - (Diana after his mother, Elizabeth after his grandmother, Mary is a common royal name and Alice is a refreshing classic name that compliments Mary as a double first name and Guinevere is just a beautiful sounding name that is royal and dignified)For a boy I am not really sure. Id probably go with either Oliver, George or Alfred. I love those names!!!

Philip or Arthur would be nice for a boy.
For a girl, Helena, maybe? Alexandra would have been my first choice, but apparently there's still an Alexandra around.

A plethora, actually...Currently, Alexandra is the go to name for royalty.- Princess Alexandra in England
- Princess Alexandra of Hanover, daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco
- Princess Alexandra of Luxembourg
- Princess Ingrid-Alexandra of Norway... just to name a few!

For a girl, there are many names to choose from- though I'm sure Alexandra, Elizabeth, Mary, Charlotte, Anne and Victoria are the frontrunners. There's also the possiblity that Kate, a commoner by birth, would want to go with something classically English but perhaps uncommon in the royal English family. Middle names will certainly include at least one modern or modern-ish one. I'd like-
Princess Mary Augusta Elizabeth Diana The first three names are all common as first or middle names amongst English royalty, and Elizabeth is Kate's mother's middle name. Augusta is a bit different, though, not as popular as Alexandra and Victoria amongst modern royalty, and Diana is for obvious reasons.
For a boy-Prince Arthur George Charles Michael George is a common King name, especially amongst the Windsors, and Charles and Michael are the grandfather names. Arthur is also a Windsor names, albeit a lesser known one.
