It all depends whether you take the Teutonic or Latin meanings for Rosamund - if the latter, "rose of the world", which was used for the medieval English king's lady love Rosamund Clifford, then it is related to Rose.
But it's so underused and so elegant that it beats all the Roses hands down!
Rosamond (I think this spelling) is Elizabeth Taylor's mn - her mum had good taste in combos.
And Alice Rosamund is lovely too!

I love using Rosamund (prefer Rosamond and Rosemonde) as a middle name!

Alice Rosamund is grand.

Not really a fan of Rosamund, but it is an alternative to the tired Rose. I think Id like Alice Rosalie or Alice Rosetta or Alice Roseanne or Alice Rosemary better.

I don't think Rose and Rosamund are really related, especially when used as a middle name. Rose is common, fillery and generic, while Rosamund is mysterious, beautiful and almost medieval. So no, I don't think it would be similar to use Rosamund instead of Rose.

No, I think Alice Rosamund is lovely. Rose is filler, but that doesn't make Rosamund filler in the slightest.

Strictly speaking, Rosamund is not a "rose" name. But your little Rosamund will be moving in a world of non-name nerds so it hardly matters. Most people will assume it's a "rose" name.

But I wouldn't count Rosamund out just for that. The sound is different ("roz") so it wouldn't be "more of the same." And I don't think true Rose names have taken over the universe in the same way that Lily names have. Rosamund sounds so fresh to me. I'd love to see it being used.

I know Rosamund has a different etymology than Rose, but it really is close enough for me. I would use Rosamund for a daughter's name to honor my Mother who has the middle name Rose (see sig).
