Gene?
WDYTO Gene as a middle name for a boy?My great grandparents were Jean and Eugene so I though it would be nice to honor them. The combo would be Henry Gene. WDYT?

I like the name Eugene much more than just Gene. For one thing, Eugene keeps the meaning of the name intact. Secondly, as other posters have mentioned, Gene can sound like Jeanne. If Jean was a female (great grandmother?) maybe you can save that for a girl's middle name some day.

I think Henry Eugene sounds good. Best of luck!(My name list: http://www.babynames.com/namelist/9516801)

I really like Gene, my great-uncle was Eugene "Gene".Not a fan of Henry, but the combo sounds nice.

As a middle name, it's fine. Not my style, but if it's honoring why not? Henry Gene is great.[oh, and I'm a bit against it as a FN because, imagine someone saying "Hi, Gene!" Think. Hi, Gene. Hi, Gene. Hygiene.

I would just go with Eugene because Gene and Jean, although have same sound, not the same. One is a boy and one is a girl.

I think you should just settle on Eugene, when said Gene can sound too feminine.
