Philomena vs Filomena
Do the spellings give you different impressions? Which do you prefer?I love the sound of Philomena and I think it sounds great with our last name, and with most of the other names I like. I dated a Phillip though, and in the end he turned out to be not a nice person. The sound doesn't remind me of him but the Ph- spelling does.Would you use the F- spelling in that case or just strike it from the list? Would it be misspelled? I don't know if most people know how to spell Ph/Filomena in the first place anyway.

I like Philomena. I think it looks most natural. But I think if the 'ph' spelling is going to remind you of an old boyfriend you should go with Filomena.

To me, it depends a bit on the country you live in.In the US etc. I find Philomena looks more "natural" while I prefer Filomena in Italy or other European countries where English isn't the first language. I love both variants.

I personally prefer Philomena, but I can see how in your case you would want to avoid the Ph- spelling. Filomena is perfectly fine. It's a legitimate variant of Philomena.
