Matilda
WDYT of Matilda? First impressions? I'm in the USA, so it's not popular at all. I really like the meaning and sound, as well as the nn Tilda. Also, what sibling names would you pair with Matilda?

I don't care much for Matilda...although I love Mathilde (muh-TEELD) and Tilda (as a given name). My first thought is of the children's book character.

Love it, especially with the nn Tilly.:)

I always thought Ada and Matilda would be beautiful sister names.Matilda Frances is a favorite.

I love it. It has a bit of spunk to me. I have two Matildas in my family tree, so I grew to like it over the years. From your PNL I think it sounds great with these as siblings:
Adelaide, Agnes, Arthur, Astrid, Beatrice, Daphne, David, Diana, Douglas, Eugene, Frederick, Jane, Joanna, Josephine, Julia, Katharine, Louisa, Olive, Olivia, Pamela, Pauline, Pearl, Philip, Richard, Roger, Simone, Susannah, Ursula

Reminds me of the book.Which is a good thing, by the way. I think it's very cute.Mattie would be a good nickname.

I love it. I used to kind of like it, and then I re-read the book by Roald Dahl and fell in love with it. I keep it as a mn for Claire, because I don't like any of the nns that would come from Matilda.
I think it's quite popular in Australia (and has been for a long time) mainly because of the song 'Waltzing Matilda'. Then Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams used it (probably partly because of it's Australian popularity) and now it's catching on a little in the US as a result.
Maybe.
I don't know what siblings I'd put with it. Probably just my usual set of names: Claire, Nathaniel, Sarah, Violet. Classic-ish names.

I used to love Matilda; however, I've grown apart from the name.I strongly prefer Clotilda.

I am not a huge fan but it is a sweet refreshing name. I think names like Matilda, Susan, Estella and Ivy may become the Sophias, Isabellas and Lilys in a few years. I would pair Matilda in a sibset with other refreshing underused names such as Faye, Pearl, Rosa, Minnie, etc....

I love it, but it is quite popular where I live (ranked number 26 I think...so popular enough that it is not uncommon to meet one or hear of one) and I generally prefer Mathilde. I am not a fan of the nn Tilda though (it sounds frumpy and old-ladyish to me), I am more of a Mattie fan. Or even Tilly. I think Matilda nn Mattie is super spunky.

I'm beginning to warm up to it. I prefer Mildred. Matilda and Madeleine

So tired of it.It's definitely a board favorite right now, and I just don't understand why. I've refrained from saying this so far, but it's actually quite ugly and frumpy and MARA WILSON, ANYONE?Done.

Yes!All it makes me think of is that dumb movie!I don't think it sounds that frumpy and ugly, but I definitely don't really like it.

omg dittoI thought I was the only one who felt that way! I want to like it, I feel like it's a name I should like (as in, it fits my usual style) but I just really don't. D:

I love it, but I'm worried it's on the verge of popping onto the charts soon. It seems like one of those trendy classics, but don't let it discourage you from using it if that doesn't bother you. It gives off a fun and sweet personality to me. I sort of like Tilda, but not enough to use it. I like just plain Matilda with no nickname.

I think it's cute.
