Thais
I saw a little Thais at the supermarket today. I also have a relative who considered Thais for her baby girl, and eventually went for Alice which IMO is much better (I guess she just liked the "-is" sound).
WDYT? I don't like it so much, because the Thais who was one of Alexander the Great's mistresses as the reputation of being a courtesan, and as such she also appears in Dante's Inferno.

I like the name because of the piece "Meditation from Thais" by Jules Massenet. It's an extremely famous violin concert piece.

I don't mind meanings and history of names much, and I prefer Thais to Alice, it's cool.

I really like it. It is very much a gp of mine. I understand the similar sounds between Thais and Alice but, imo, that's a big jump as far as style. I would be happy to meet a little girl with either name.
