Siren
What do you think of it?
Ever heard it on someone?

I think that would be a terrible name for a person! It has two associations, the alarm you see on fire engines or police cars, or the characters in Greek mythology that lured sailors to their deaths.

rather negative in the connotations department. to me, it would kind of be like naming someone Harpy or Jezebel.
consider Seren or Serene as an alternative.

It does have a very pretty sound, but I wouldn't want it to be my name. I've never heard it on an actual person.

Yeah, I hear a Siren everytime a police car or fire truck or ambulance ges by.To me, it isn't a name. If I saw it on a person, I would expect that the person chose it for herself, like a screen name or stage name or something.

I can only think of Greek mythology - I hate mythology, but this is the one and only story I remember vividly. The Sirens were the three bird like women that sang and seduced sailors on the sea to trap them on the little Island (or something of that nature, as I said, I really hate mythology). That being said - I'm not fond of the name. I agree with Chels though, it'd be perfect for a porn star or something of that nature

These women did sing to seduce sailors who would then crash their boats on the jagged rocks trying to get to them. It's in the Odyssey, and yes, it's all I can think of when I see it as a "name," too.

I have heard of the name, but don't like it. It makes me think of a police siren, but also some kind of porn star type name.Chels'
