Ashley
What do you think of Ashley for a girl? Nobody ever seems to post about this name. I'd really like to know why it has been so popular for so long. It has remarkable staying power. Just look at the other 80s names that aren't classics and even at the ones that are, Tiffany, Courtney, Lindsey, Stephanie, Amanda, Nicole. They are all losing popularity yet Ashley is still up there. Any theories?
Do you know many girls with the name? Mostly young girls or girls born in the 80s?
Do you prefer Ashley, Ashlee or Ashleigh (or any other spelling)? Which one have you seen most often? Have you met any girls with weird spellings? I have met and Aisleagh and she pronounced it like Ashley.
Do most Ashleys you know go by Ash or another nickname?
What comes to mind when you hear the name?
Do you like Ashlyn or Ashby?

I know a whole lot of girls named Ashley. Most of them are Ashley, although I have met the occasional Ashlee, Ashlea, or Ashleigh. I don't know any Ashleys older than 30 but the rest are almost any age below that. None of them go by a nicname. Ashlyn is okay, maybe, but I don't like Ashby. I've never met any Ashbys, so it's probably safe from overpopularity, but I still don't like it.
I really, strongly dislike Ashley. I don't think it has an appealing sound and it's so overused.
The youngest Ashley I know is five years old.
For spellings... I have met an Ashley, Ashlee, Ashleigh, Ashleah and Ashli. They all go by their real name, not a nickname.
I prefer Ashlynn over Ashby (is that even a name?).

Ashley is losing popularity too
Just a bit slower. But for several years, it dropped two places at a time. In 2007 it only dropped one, but I'm excited to see how much it fell in 2008.
Anyway. I don't think anyone posts about it because it's boring and it fits some old trend. I much prefer Ashley on a boy.
I know a TON of girls with this name, all in my age group (Around 17 - 18 years old). So end of the 80s, early 90s girls.
I prefer the Ashley spelling, but I think I once said if I were ever FORCED to have a daughter with the name, I'd spell it Ashlie. Dunno why. Most girls I know spell it Ashley, but I know one Ashleigh.
Most Ashleys I know are just Ashley. Some of them are SOMETIMES Ash.
What comes to mind is my future son, lol. But if I focus on it for a girl, it's just the everygirl. It could be anyone. Just some common girl who doesn't seem like anything special.

yawn
I find it boring and it will become dated. The variants are tacky.
However I rather like it on a boy.
