Re: Judith and combo help, please.
in reply to a message by Schezar
I adore Judith, and there is a certain reason behind that. In my combos I honour very often different people who are important to me, and I wouldn't like many names as much as I do if there were no namesakes behind them. Most of the people I admire are men, and there are actually only two women who I really find great because of what they've done, and these are Judit Polgar and Maria Yudina. I think I don't need to explain more, lol.
Out of remarkable Judiths there are also Judith Kerr (my first book about WWII was written by her) and Judy Kuhn (a beautiful actress-singer).
(After some harder thinking I remembered two female poets I love - Yunna Moritz and Maria Tsvetayeva. Ohh anyway :D)
Judith Melancia? (mel-ahn-SEE-a)
- This is pretty, but Melancia with its Latin chick would look better with Judit.
Judith Pallas?
- I'm not a big fan of two 2-syllabled names in one combo.
Judith Parisa and Judith Martín I am head over heels for.
- Judith Parisa is good! Sounds rich and doesn't look too shocking, as many Judith-combos tend to be.
Maybe -
Judith Mihaela
Judith Albina
Judith Ursula
Judith Penelope
Judith Romaine
Judith Berenika
Judith Ophelia
Judith Morwenna
Judith Raisa
Judith Zipporah
Judith Libena
Judith Alvilda
Judith Aruna
Judith Marion
Judith Herminia
Judith Leonora
Judith Elvira
Judith Winona
Helle Darya or Helle Daria?
- I suppose Helle isn't pronounced as hell. Guessing it is HEL-le. Then my preference goes to Helle Daria because of the syllables - Darya gets pronounced DAR-ya, at least by me.
Illeana Martín or Illeana Sea?
- Ileana. Ileana makes me think hardly of Iliad, and Sea makes the association stronger. Lovely.
Yardena Bell
- I like Bell, overall (thousand times better than Belle). It reminds me nicely of the chime that is made by bells and such stuff. Fits beautifully Yardena, I start forgetting that pretty one-syllabled names are usually meant as fillers. :D
Ea Solveig
- Ohh, you've found Ea! That's great. Mm, I don't really want to comment on this combo, Solveig is one of those names I strongly dislike - because of the sound, because of the cultural association, because of the personal associations. :D
Vienne Adara
- :)
Viola Dalí (yes after Salvador)
- Too many "l"s to my ears.
Andréa Luiza
- I really like the sound. The "dr" of Andréa with slippery Luiza is genius.
Effie Melancia
- Interesting that you seem to think about the same names as I. Effie is one of those names where I thought "I'm the only one who knows it exists", :D:D. And ohh I laughed so hard after googling Melancia! This combo is so much fun!
Ásdís Camille
- Ásdís has got such a funny meaning! But don't you think the difference between colder, dry Camille and Norse, wild Ásdís is too big? I'd try again here.
Vesper Rune - not sure how I feel about Rune. Sell me?
- Meh, I'm not sure I really want to sell it. :D The meaning is pretty, but Rune sounds too much of a Viking-cliché.
Nasrin Amina - I am trying to find a beautiful mn for Nasrin but I can't seem to place her.
- May I try? I love combining names! xD
Nasrin Melia
Nasrin Aruna (thinking about Rune)
Nasrin Marina
Nasrin Ariadne
Nasrin Claribel
Nasrin Valeria
Nasrin Undina
Nasrin Cordula
Nasrin Elizavet
Nasrin Mehetabel
Nasrin Shulammite
Nasrin Philippa
Nasrin Londinium
Nasrin Gloria
Nasrin Raimonda
Nasrin Morana :D
Nasrin Euphemia
Nasrin Eudora
Nasrin Aurelia
Anya Briony - same problem with Anya. I don't know if I love Briony enough for this combo.
- Briony is quite fine, but Anya is weak enough on its own, I'd rather try some...not necessary stronger, but more solid names? Briony made me think of Grozdana. Anya Grozdana is pretty good, actually.
Alessandro Gabriel
- No need to comment here. :)
Alessandro Gareth
- ...and here.
Kilian Luis (loo-EEZ)
- Is it only me who can't see so many "l"s close to each other? Luis Kilian would be more of my choise. Also, Kilian has always made me think of the word "kill".
Ami Stellan
- No special emotions.
Ami Aleksei
- Fun. And good.
Ami Kazimir (note: I pronounce Ami as AH-me)
- Ami Aleksei is still my favourite. 8)
