I do like it but I never really use it. It's a little too Russian to name my little American babies.

It's a bit harsh sounding, but it's not bad. I personally prefer Svea.

It is Russian name with nickname Sveta, Svetochka, Svetlana, Lana, Svetik, etc. Very popular name in Russia/ Ukraine, etc. Svet means light. Take it if you like it.

I loooove Svetlana. I know two Svetlanas, one of them is one of the loveliest girls I've ever met. I would use it in a heartbeat.
