I love Damian, although I prefer the French spelling Damien after Father Damien. (Any man who tends to lepers and eventually dies of the disease himself deserves honor.)
I think you'll be swimming against a heavy stream with the Polish pronunciation of Damian. It's nice, don't get me wrong. But if you can't take the English pronunciation, you might want to find another name. I knew a (woman) Andrea who went by, "ahn-DRAY-uh." Only about half of the people ever got it right.
Damian Dashiell is a little "d" heavy for me. I'd prefer Damian Ansel, Damian Pascal, Damian Paul.
